New pic of Paul as Joby from For Ellen, which will be competing at Sundance in the US Dramatic category.
Loves the whole "rock muso" character styles :)
Paul Dano's movie, For Ellen, which was filmed some time ago, is competing in next years
Sundance Film Festival in the US Dramatic section.
The festival runs from Jan 19-29 next year in Utah.
Directed by So Yong Kim, the story follows Joby (Dano),
an aspiring young rock star, who finally agrees to sign divorce papers with his estranged wife (Jena Malone). He
discovers that he is about to forfeit all custody of his six year old daughter, Ellen. Never having been in Ellen's
life before, Joby suddenly realises that he's not ready to lose that part of himself. Hoping to make up for lost time,
he tries to win her heart.
Am so glad to finally hear some news about this film....as it has been some time coming!
Warner Bros are rounding up its cast for the much-scrutinised adaptation of the Japanese classic Akira.
The $90 million movie, being directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan), is set in a place called New Manhattan and follows two
brothers, one the leader of a motorcycle gang, the other a younger man with telekinetic abilities who becomes a dangerous weapon.
Garrett Hedlund and Kirten Stewart are attached and the part of Tetsuo
(the young man whose latent powers will release the powerful being known as Akira) is being decided
via screentesting today and tomorrow.
Up for the part are: Paul Dano (re-testing), Alden Ehrenreich(re-testing), D.J. Cotrona, Logan Marshal Green,
Toby Kebbell, Richard Madden, Rami Malek and Michael Pitt.
A decision is hoped to be made before Thanksgiving.

I love it...
Below is the official trailer for Paul's upcoming movie with Robert De Niro -
"Being Flynn".
Based on Nick Flynn's book - "Another Bullshit Night in Suck City",

The movie is directed by Chris Weitz and is scheduled for release next (US) spring.
Check out a very early preview of Paul's upcoming movie - Looper - by
clicking the "Source" link below.
Based on this review, the movie sounds like it will be fantastic and Paul's work gets a good rap.
We will all have to wait a while though. Looper is set for release in September 28, 2012.
Paul and Zoe - pictured with chef David Rocco - dined on pizza and chianti at Lucali this week.
Paul appears to be mucho blonde - perhaps for his character as Karl Rove in "College Republicans" which is shooting soon.
On an unrelated note - very unrelated - Paul is now a Stardoll. Yep, you can now dress up Paul Dano online - it's weird...

Paul's name is being bandied about for the latest in the "Die Hard" franchise - A Good Day To Die Hard, to
be released on Valentines Day, 2013.
The role is of John McClane's (Bruce Willis) son, with other actors names being thrown into the mix for this role:
Ben Foster (love him), Aaron Paul, Paul Walker and Milo Ventimiglia.
I am proud to be a huge Die Hard fan, so am doing my happy dance :)

Paul's movie - Meek's Cutoff, directed by Kelly Reichardt (whom Paul is working with again on the upcoming movie Night Moves),
has just been released on DVD.
The DVD also contains a "Making Of" featurette as an extra and is also available in Blu-ray.
If you didn't get a chance to see this beautiful film when it is was screening, here is your chance :)
Paul Dano reteams with Kelly Reichardt for eco-terrorist film Night Moves.
For her last effort, the uncompromising western "Meek's Cutoff," the growing cachet of indie filmmaker Kelly
Reichardt allowed the director to cast some bigger names than she had worked with in the past, nabbing Bruce Greenwood,
Zoe Kazan and Paul Dano to pad out the ensemble. And the experience seems to have been a positive one for Paul Dano, as
reps for the actor have confirmed with The Playlist that he is reteaming with Reichardt for the director's next effort,
the eco-terrorist film "Night Moves."
The project was first revealed last week when Peter Sarsgaard confirmed he was also taking a role in the film.
The picture is certainly a gear change for Reichardt, as the story will will center on three environmentalists
(Sarsgaard, Dano and one unannounced actress) who are intent on blowing up a dam.
Update: "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" star Rooney Mara has been approached about the third female role,
but there are many scheduling factors involved and she is not confirmed as of this time.
"I saw a documentary called "If A Tree Falls" in which a group of environmentalists in Portland [are] trying to
save centuries-old trees and the police act with such brutality that these youths ultimately decide to do more than
protect a tree," Sarsgaard said last week, going on to explain some of the motivations of his character. "So [they] take action.
Thus, step by step, I can understand how my character gets to the point of wanting to blow up a dam. I never want to do this,
but I can understand how someone can want to do that. We have a gun pointed to our planet. We see that the demonstrations are not
working because they are being tackled with pepper [spray]...so you get the radical movement. I can understand that."
No word yet on a production start date, but this one is certainly shaping up quite nicely. Reichardt's longtime collaborators,
producers Neil Kopp and Anish Savjani, are once again behind the film via their Film Science shingle.
